Make your fruit compote. In a small sauce pan heat your butter and maple Syrup. Warm a skillet with oil or vegan butter; dip slices in batter on both sides and brown in skillet with medium heat, until browned nicely.
Serve with warmed butter syrup, and berry compote on top.
