This has to be the greatest news we could have in so long. A vegan Senator who wants to change the food system in America with justice for everyone. We need all people to have access to healthy food. Right now in lower income communities access to healthy food is of low quality where you can buy an onion at a 7-11, and yet inundated with fast foods. The Food Empowerment Project https://foodispower.org/access-health/food-access/ addresses this food injustice and has great information. So much needs to be done for equal access to healthy foods. Cory Booker states, “Our food system is deeply broken. Family farmers are struggling and their farms are disappearing, while big agriculture conglomerates get bigger and enjoy greater profits,” Booker said. “Meanwhile, healthy, fresh food is hard to find and even harder to afford in rural and urban communities alike. In the richest country on the planet, over 35 million Americans from every walk of life are food insecure.”
Senator Cory Booker has also taken a stance against the large congolmerates of the meat and dairy industries, and wants to make it fair for the small farmers by introducing a bill called, “Farm System Reform Act” (FSRA), transforming away from the large industrial factory farming. “Large factory farms are harmful to rural communities, public health, and the environment and we must immediately begin to transition to a more sustainable and humane system.” The bill would includes fines for pollutions to waterways, investigations of live markets, unlawful practices, a moratorium on large concentrated animal feeding operations. Also included; “Voluntary debt forgiveness and transition assistance program for animal feeding operations. A limit to the number of animals confined. To cover costs relating to the transition of the property on which the AFO is located to be used for alternative agriculture activities, such as raising pasture-based livestock, growing speciality crops or organic production.” For more information on FSRA: https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/senate-bill/3221/text
Let’s play close attention to this bill to ensure that it passes. Congratulations Cory Booker!

I live near a dairy farm and I’ve been seeing Cavs outside hung by chains a really cool brutal weather condition ,freezing temperature …this is unethical and inhumane ,I have also seen calves neglected ..no food & water ,I’m really traumatized and think these animals deserve better .
@Nancy Tamar, that’s so so sad. Can you approach them or call PETA? They have a hotline, it’s worth a shot. The unfortunate part is farm animals don’t have protections. That’s truly heartbreaking to witness. Why don’t you sue them for trauma to have to witness day in and day out. I don’t really have an answer, I see this day in and day out myself being an animal rights activist, and have ptsd and anxiety from it all too. Please always reach out to me if you need someone to talk to! Sending much love and light, I really appreciate your comment and reaching out.
